Advert Photoshop

In order to make my advert in photoshop I first chose the size I wanted my poster to be. In this case it was 204mm x 70mm. I typed in this size and this was my canvas to begin designing my advert.

I then selected the picture I wanted to use. I then went file and place. The image appeared on my canvas and I then re-scaled it so that it was the right size.

I also wasnt happy with the colours in the photo as they were not inkeeping with the style of my C.D . As seen below I changed the colour scheme of the picture to suit.

I then went to adjustmentns tab and click black and white. This was an experiment to see if I liked the look of the photo in this colour. I then adjusted the colours within the black and white, as seen in the picture. This meant I could alter the hair colour and the backround to make it stand out more.

As you can also see in this screen shot I have alligned the picture to the left of the canvas. I have done this to allow space for the title and text.

Having looked looked at the image in black and white, I decided to put the image in sepia as it matched the cover of my C.D better.

Once again I adjusted the brightness and contrast until the image looked right. I also wanted the character to stand out from the background. I was able to do this through the brightness, contrasts and the RGB colours adjustments.

Once I was happy with the positioning and the image on the canvas. I then started to contruct the title. I looked through the fonts available and chose eccentric std.

I made a new layer and named it whatever I was going to type. I then changed the colour to white anexperiment woith oulines, shading and shadowing.. I positioned the title on 2 lines and and in a bold font in order to stand out around the face of the character.

I chose to use a grey shadowing to the title, which I found in the styles tab.

I then found the brits logo on google images, and placed it on the canvas. I wanted to include this in my next blurb of text. The relevance of this is that Florence won best album at the brit awards 1010. I thought this would be a good selling point for the advert.

The colours used in the brit logo just happened to stand out on the sepia background, so although I had planned to make changes to it, I didn't need to.

Underneath I went about drawing a text box and typing the information the same as before.

Automatic settings on photoshop is for text to appear in black. I however wanted to use a colour that would stand out on the sepia background, and a colour that was in keeping with the style of advert. For this I chose a coral colour. This was achieved by typing the text in a text box and selecting a colour in the palette section. I did this for 3 sections of separate text.

This is the final and finished advert for 'Florence and the Machine' and her Digipak, promoting the video for the single ‘You’ve got the love’
